BOISE -- A local non-profit wanted to show there's nothing scary about adopting a black dog except for maybe some of their costumes they had on Sunday.
Dressed up as a firefighter, a little devil, or even a sheriff, dogs of sizes and breeds came out for SNIP's Howl-O-Ween Black Dog Walk & Costume Contest.
It's in an effort to help bring awareness to the plight of black dogs and cats in shelters that are often adopted less frequently then their colorful friends.
Sunday's event also featured adoptable dogs from local animal rescue groups and shelters.
Prizes were awarded from variety of categories including, most creative, funniest, smallest dog in costume, and largest dog in costume.
