BOISE -- Students at Cynthia Mann Elementary School enjoyed a "Taste of Idaho" during the second annual Harvest Day Celebration.
It's all part of the Farm-to-School Program.
The program started in the Boise School District in 2010.
The goal is to provide students with at least one local food item per week throughout the year and one local food item per day for the entire month of September.
Harvest Day celebrates local foods and give kids an understanding of where their foods come from.
"This year we're focusing on making half the tray fresh fruits and vegetables, so the students have been taking more fruits and veggies, by telling them they're local they feel like they know where it's coming from and they're giving back to the community," said Desiree Karst, Boise School District.
Students also tracked food they eat, how it fits into dietary guidelines, and what foods they eat that are grown locally.
For their efforts, students earned a pass to come to the Farmstead Corn Maze & Pumpkin Festival.
