BOISE -- The long awaited Whole Foods Market is set to open Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in Boise.

The valley's newest grocery store is located on Broadway Avenue between Front and Myrtle streets in downtown. It offers 42,000 square feet of shopping space, a dining area, and a tap room with beer and wine, among other amenities.

The building was created with numerous green practices, including recycled and locally sourced materials. Decorative elements include murals, flatware, glassware, and other store elements purchased from local Treasure Valley companies and artists.

Prospective shoppers were treated to several "sneak peek" tours on Sunday. Here, employees explained the "community centered" philosophy of the Whole Foods Market, and gave out free samples of locally produced food and drinks.

The free tours continue Monday, but many have already filled up.
