BOISE -- The annual Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run/Walk entered it's sixth year in 2013.
The event saw joggers, runners, and walkers attempt to complete a 3-mile course from Boise State University onto the Boise Greenbelt, and back into Bronco Stadium.
Entry fees and other donations go to pay for student scholarships at BSU. In addition, Bronco Football Head Coach Chris Petersen donates $5 for every runner that beats him in the race.
Organizers say 2013's race saw about 2,260 participants in attendance. About 1,000 runners beat Coach Pete, who finished with a time of 27:11.
That means Petersen will pay about $5,000 to BSU's scholarship fund.
The fastest time in the race was clocked by Boise's Eric Fitzpatrick, with a time of 14:22.
