PORTLAND, Ore. -- A woman who ran down her boyfriend with an RV in Northeast Portland made a plea deal Monday to serve prison time on manslaughter charges.

Last October 44-year-old Darlene Francis Harding turned herself in for the death of 50-year-old Kenneth Dalbert Rowley.

Harding pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison, credited for one year already served.

Rowley was killed after being run over by a motor home driven by Harding in the area of NE 60th and Prescott, police said.

Prosecutor Amy Holmes Hehn told the judge it was “a violent relationship … and the toxic glue that held it together was methamphetamine.”

The couple had apparently been arguing before the woman jumped into the motor home to drive off. When she started pulling away, the man jumped in front of the vehicle and then tumbled underneath.

According to witnesses, the motor home dragged Rowley 20 to 30 feet during the driver's fit of rage and then the woman drove away, leaving him dead in the street.

Court records showed the two had criminal histories and restraining orders taken out against one another.
