The girl was transported via LifeFlight air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Her name and condition were not released.

The accident happened at an apartment on Southeast Locust Street.

It was the second time in the last three days that a Canby child was seriously injured after pushing through a window screen and falling out, according to Canby Fire District spokesman Todd Gary.

On Tuesday, a child fell from a two-story window at a different Canby residence and landed feet-first on a concrete pad. That child was also transported to Legacy Emanuel.

Canby fire officials offer the following tips to prevent similar accidents:

--Arrange furniture so children can't easily access windows

--If you need to keep windows open, pin them in the open position, with only enough opening so air can move through the window, but so the child can not crawl out

--If you can't adequately safeguard a window, use a different window to let the fresh air in
