Man hurt while trying to save puppy from beating

CENTRALIA, Wash. -- The Lewis County Sheriff's office says a Centralia man is in the hospital after attempting to stop a man beating and choking a black lab mix puppy.
Police say they arrested Victor Esparza-Hernandez for second-degree assault. They say the puppy is doing OK.
No more details were released on the Centralia man's condition.
