Man arrested for assaulting 2-month-old baby

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police arrested a man for assaulting a baby late Friday night.
Medics arrived at the child's home at the 1400 block of E. 7th about 10 p.m. on Friday where a child was reported to be unresponsive and not breathing. A neighbor was providing CPR to the child.
An ambulance took the 2-month-old baby to Sacred Heart Medical Center with significant injuries. The child is in critical condition.
Police arrived at the hospital emergency room at 11 p.m. and started their investigation.
They interviewed the last person with the baby, the mother's boyfriend, 22-year-old Andrew Whitmire and booked him into jail on first degree assault.
