10:49 AM MDT on Wednesday, April 30, 2008
PORTLAND - An attempted murder charge has been filed against a driver accused of intentionally striking two bicyclists last summer.
Johnny Eschweiler had already been charged with assault for allegedly using his car to hit Ben Ramsdell and Timothy Mastne on a southeast Portland street.
The 48-year-old motorist pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled for June.
The cyclists got hit after one of them got upset with Eschweiler for nearly striking him. Ramsdell reportedly suffered a broken finger, a broken nose and needed 30 stitches to his face.
