PORTLAND -- A woman with a pocket knife robbed three 14-year-old girls for their Halloween candy in Northeast Portland Thursday night, police said.

The victims told officers they were trick-or-treating on Northeast Thompson Street, near Northeast 22nd Avenue, when a woman approached them and struck up a conversation, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

As the girls started to walk away from the woman she pulled out a knife and demanded their bags of candy, Simpson said. The woman took two of the girls' bags and left in a green 2005 Subaru.

She was described as white, 5-foot-6, 120 lbs., with long brown hair. She was wearing black shorts and a black hoodie.

Responding officers provided the victims with a large bag of replacement candy, Simpson said.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call 503-823-0405.
