SPOKANE, Wash.-- Medics transported a woman to the hospital after she was allegedly attacked by a stranger near the Centennial Trail.
She told police a man struck her with a mallet around 4:30 p.m. near Maplewood Gardens.
The woman was dazed and began screaming. A maintenence worker from the retirement center heard her and came to her rescue. The victim pointed to the man who allegedly hit her, and the worker began to chase the suspect.
He jumped into the river, and police arrested him near Madelia and Sharp.
The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested for assault.
