LA CENTER, Wash. – A La Center man allegedly shot one of his sons after calling 911 twice to report that he felt suicidal and was going to kill himself or his sons Sunday night.
The victim, 48-year-old Barry Briemon, Jr., survived being shot in the hip. He was flown to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies arrested 65-year-old Barry Briemon, Sr., inside the home, located at 38011 NE 109th St., on attempted murder charges.
Briemon, Sr. reportedly called 911 two times. The first time, he told dispatchers he was suicidal and he was either going to kill himself or his two sons. Then he called back again and told the dispatcher he had shot his son, according to Sgt. Kevin Allais with the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
Allais said deputies responded immediately after the first 911 call, but it took some time to reach the home. The dispatcher also tried to keep Briemon on the line until deputies arrived.
Briemon's other son, Kevin, 41, fled the home before deputies arrived, Allais said. He had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest and a restraining order that prohibited him from being around his brother.
Deputies later found Kevin hiding under a vehicle in an outbuilding and arrested him as well.
