ESTACADA, Ore. – Deputies said speed and “using a mobile device” were factors that caused a woman to crash into a trailer full of fresh cut Christmas trees Sunday morning in Estacada.

Around 8 a.m., 22-year-old Danielle Battles of Estacada rear ended the trailer near South Springwater Road and South Eaden Road, said Mark Nikolai with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Battles was severely injured and taken by Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University where she was listed in critical condition.

Deputies wanted to remind drivers that using a mobile device can get you a ticket if you get caught. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said many accidents are caused by distracted driving.
