COQUILLE, Ore. -- Coos County authorities say a Myrtle Point man shot his wife in the back after hiding in her car while she met with a divorce attorney.

District Attorney R. Paul Frasier says 26-year-old Travis Kendall killed himself following Tuesday's night shooting.

According to Frasier, 22-year-old Ashley Kendall is in extremely critical condition after the bullet entered her upper back and exited her chest.

Records show Travis Kendall went to jail on a domestic abuse charge in October. He was ordered not to have contact with Ashley following his conditional release.
