LONGVIEW, ORE. -- Rescue crews found a piece of clothing, then the body of a man who apparently disappeared into a salt storage area at the Equa-Chlor plant, according to the Cowlitz County sheriff's office.

Emergency workers used a front-end loader and a vacuum to search the pile of salt.

Authorities said Saturday the employee at the Equa-Chlor plant apparently was making rounds on Christmas Day and didn't return.

They say there were no witnesses to the incident. The man's vehicle was still at the plant. Authorities have not released his name. They say foul play is not suspected.

Equa-Chlor shoots electricity through salt water to produce chlorine, hydrogen and caustic soda.
