PENDLETON, Ore. -- Idaho Power may route a transmission line through south-central Oregon rather than along the Interstate 84 corridor.

The line would run from southwest of Boise in Idaho to Boardman along the Columbia River, where wind power has been adding sources of electricity.

Spokeswoman Piper Hyman says Idaho Power has held public meetings in Grant and Harney counties in the past few weeks to gauge support for the line.

She says Grant County residents have generally been against a line, but the utility company has gotten a warmer reception in Harney County.
