NEWPORT -- Heavy rains and high winds have slammed the Oregon and Washington coasts.

U.S. 101 in Seaside was closed in both directions Monday morning. Some vehicles with very high clearance have been allowed to use the flooded area. The highway was closed north of Gearhart to repair downed power lines.

A power failure has close Neah-Ka-Nie schools for the day. Power was also out in downtown Cannon Beach.

The Coast Guard has closed the bar in Astoria, Tillamook, Depoe Bay, and the Umpqua.

A 98 mph gust was recorded overnight at Yaquina Head near Newport.

In Newport, metal roofing was ripped from an Izzy's restaurant. Trees were down along Highway 18 en route to Lincoln City.
