NEWPORT -- Gusts on exposed headlands could hit 90 mph early Wednesday through the afternoon, according to a National Weather Service warning.
"These are potentially the highest winds of the winter season," said KGW meteorologist Rod Hill.
Winds will be steady from the south at 40 to 50 mph, with gusts hitting at least 70 mph along the coastline. Hill said he could foresee gusts hitting 100 mph on the headlands.
The advisory is for an area Florence north to Lincoln City.
A surf advisory mirrors the time span of the high wind advisory, with seas topping of at 25 to 30 feet. Expect powerful breakers in the surf zone.
