PORTLAND -- Officers in Troutdale arrested three teenagers after they shot random people from a moving car with a paintball gun Saturday night, police said.

Nine people were hit with paintballs while standing in their front yards. Two other people were shot at while leaving a restaurant near the corner of Southeast Stark Street and South Troutdale Road, said Steve Bevens of the Troutdale Police Department.

Witnesses called 911 shortly after 11 p.m., and police located the suspect vehicle within minutes.

Officers arrested 18-year-old Daniel Schmitt (pictured, right) of Gresham and 18-year-old Alexander Penner of Portland. Police also arrested a 17-year-old suspect whom they have not named.

Inside the car, police found a paintball gun with paintballs and other accessories.

Schmitt and Penner are being held at the Multnomah County Jail, and the 17-year-old suspect is in juvenile detention.
