CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A child in a jogging stroller died Monday morning after getting hit by a truck along Highway 99E near Corvallis, Oregon State Police said.

Dillon Ayer, age 2 1/2, died at the scene. His mother Courtney Ayer, may have suffered minor injuries to her hands and wrists. The driver of the truck, Marcus Coulter, 37, of Lebanon, was not hurt.

The accident happened near the intersection of Highway 99E and Old Highway 34.

A woman was pushing a jogging stroller when a commercial truck hit it and killed the child, according to officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation.

"She was screaming and jumping up and down in the intersection in the middle of the intersection," said Troy Ryzek, who works at a gas station nearby.

Investigators said the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating.

There was no word of any charges yet in the case.
