WATERVILLE, Wash. - The FBI has joined the investigation into the death of a 17-year-old Douglas County girl.

Investigators believe a body found Saturday along the Columbia River Near Quincy is Mackenzie Cowell.

Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal said there are no suspects and investigators are hoping tips will break the case.

Gjesdal says the details of the case are forcing them to cover a lot of ground.

"It's a very unusual case in that the young woman lived in Douglas County, worked and went missing from Wenatchee, her car was found in a remote  part of Chelan County, yet her body was found in a very remote part of Douglas County," said Gjesdal.

The Wenatchee High School student was last seen leaving a beauty school class Tuesday in Wenatchee. Her car was found that night near Mission Ridge, about 40 miles from her home in Orondo.

The body was found Saturday on the river bank with her feet in the water.
