SPOKANE, Wash. -- A judge set bail Wednesday at $500,000 for a man accused of killing his girlfriend in Nine Mile Falls, WA.
Jason Hart, 27, faced a judge in the afternoon. Hart is accused of killing Regan Jolley. Hart was arrested Tuesday.
Deputies found Jolley’s body in a garage house along the 14800 block of West Autumn Lane on Tuesday. Authorities found Jolley’s body in a tub full of acid.
Detectives told Spokane's KREM 2 News that they believe she was killed Monday. Court documents said Jolley had bruising around her neck which is consistent with being strangled. Authorities said the autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
Court documents stated that police found bleach where they believe Hart tried to clean the crime scene. Authorities wrote that Hart had injuries when they arrested him.
On Wednesday, prosecutors described the murder as a case of domestic violence.
Witnesses told authorities that Hart and Jolley were fighting. A witness found the body in the garage according to court documents. Hart allegedly told the witness not to go in the garage because he “wouldn’t like what he’d find.”
Lawyers in court said Hart’s record contains one DUI. The murder suspect was also described as a disabled veteran who supports his dad.
Hart’s family told KREM 2 News that he was addicted to methamphetamine. His estranged-wife said Hart wanted to get help earlier this week.
The judge scheduled Hart’s arraignment for June 18th.
