ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Troopers said the car went off the roadway, crashed through the fence, and came to a rest in a pond.  The car quickly became submerged with water all the way to the roof.

Another driver quickly stopped and jumped into the water to attempt to save the unconscious driver in the water.  He was unable to get into the car because the windows were rolled up and the doors were locked.

A trooper pulled up to the scene and also jumped in the water.  Together, the second driver and the trooper were able to break a window, unbuckle the driver in the car, and pull them to safety.

The driver was transported to Kittitas Valley Healthcare to be evaluated.

When asked about rescuing the driver, the trooper stated “Any trooper would have done the same. It’s what we do.”
