SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- State Patrol said a high-speed pursuit that began in Idaho ended when a stolen vehicle crashed into multiple patrol cars on I-90 in Spokane Valley. The incident created significant traffic issues on the freeway Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said the stolen vehicle was spotted in Post Falls earlier Saturday. The ensuing chase continued into Washington state, where Spokane County Sheriff's deputies took over the pursuit.
WSP said the stolen vehicle crashed into a car near Sullivan but the suspect driver took off after the collision.
A short time later, the stolen vehicle crashed into multiple patrol cars near the Evergreen exit, according to authorities. Investigators said after the multiple-car collision, the driver was taken into custody.
The crashes caused traffic issues westbound on I-90. Authorities said all but one lane were blocked. The Evergreen on-ramp was also shut down. State Patrol urged drivers to avoid the area.
No civilians were reported injured from any of the crashes. There was no word whether any law enforcement officials suffered injuries.
