PORTLAND --Two burglars, one wearing a bee-keeper hood to hide his face, broke into a John’s Landing business over the weekend and ransacked the shop.

Josh Burch manages Elephants Delicatessen on Southwest Corbett Avenue and said the break-in forced them to turn away Sunday brunch customers.

It was a big loss.

”You throw in food waste and you throw in loss of sales and you definitely [have] over $10,000 in my opinion which is sad,” Burch said.

Surveillance video shows the burglars prying open cash registers and rummaging through the office where Burch said they attempted, unsuccessfully, to steal the safe.

The duo eventually took off empty handed.

Burch wondered if the burglars were behind other break-ins in the John’s Landing area and warned other businesses to be aware of the crime.

Anyone with information about the crime that could help with the investigation was urged to contact Portland police.
