A man suspected of burglarizing a bikini barista stand in Parkland was killed Tuesday morning after crashing his car while being pursued by sheriff’s deputies.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 13900 block of Pacific Avenue S.

A Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said deputies spotted the 19-year-old and pursued him at high speed for about a minute.

The man’s car hit a telephone pole. The man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He died at the scene.

Deputies believe he stole a bank deposit bag from the stand.
