MOLALLA, Ore. -- A Milwaukie woman is suspected of stabbing a man before stealing and crashing a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office patrol car early Friday morning, police said.

The 33-year-old man who was stabbed was airlifted to a hospital, where he was last listed in fair condition. The woman who stole the car was not hurt, said Sgt. Adam Phillips.

Deputies were dispatched about 1 a.m. to a reported stabbing in the 16800 block of South Howards Mill Road. Minutes later, a deputy en route saw a patrol car racing in the other direction, Phillips said.

With a quick exchange on the radio of the stolen car, deputies knew it had been stolen, Phillips said.

The woman lost control and crashed near Oregon 213 and Molalla Road.

Tara Axmaker, 25, was accused of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony attempt to elude, Phillips said. The incident remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.

Axmaker was arrested in April 2010 after a stabbing and wild chase in Clackamas County. A man called 911 to report that he had been stabbed by a woman he knew.

Axmaker was not driving in that incident. She was charged with second-degree assault. The victim suffered a minor knife wound.
