PORTLAND – A new weekend storm is bringing moisture to the metro area and freezing rain to the Columbia Gorge.
KGW Meteorologist Jim Donovan says the freezing rain will extend east from Washougal to Hood River and snow is likely from Hood River and beyond.
The Gorge was hit with freezing rain late Thursday and early Friday that caused headaches for drivers and those commuting east of the metro area.
Several accidents were reported along Interstate 84 Saturday afternoon.
Drivers traveling near the Gorge and in the upper Hood River Valley Saturday and Sunday were advised to be cautious. Any amount of freezing rain can cause dangerous ice on the road.
Rain showers will begin in the Metro area with high temperatures hovering around the 40s on Saturday and Sunday.
More rain will come earlier in the week with freezing rain expected to continue in the Gorge.
