PORTLAND – A man armed with an AK-47 was arrested near a Northeast Portland work site Wednesday after showing up to threaten Hispanic workers, police said.
Portland police were called to the site at Northeast 11th Avenue and Church Street where they said 43-year-old Charles Larson was inside a truck with a loaded AK-47 rifle.
An officer told the man to pull over and give up. Police said Larson gave up without incident.
He was charged with DUII, intimidation, menacing, reckless driving and unlawful use of a weapon. No one was injured.
Larson "objected to Hispanic people getting constructions jobs," said Lt. Robert King.
