LONGVIEW, Wash. -- A Longview funeral home employee was accused of molesting a deceased 25-year-old woman, according to a newspaper report.
The Longview Daily News reported that 49-year-old Jeffrey Scott Dorothy, of Longview, was investigated by police in February, and the victim's family was expected to file a lawsuit Thursday.
The newspaper also reported that county prosecutors did not press charges because sexual intent would be difficult to prove. The investigation stemmed from a conversation Dorothy had with a Columbia Funeral Service co-worker.
"This is just too unbelievable to be real," the victim's mother told the Daily News. "You worry about this stuff happening to your kids when they're alive."
The victim died in July 4, 2011, from complications of a lifelong medical condition. The abuse allegedly occurred shortly afterward.
