BOISE -- Two familiar faces will be participating in this year's Race to Robie Creek half marathon. They are contestants from this season's hit NBC show "The Biggest Loser."
The father-daughter team of Moses and Kaylee Kinikini will participate in Saturday's race.
The two now live in eastern Idaho, but both graduated from Nampa High School and still have many family members in the Treasure Valley. The Race to Robie is touted as "the toughest race in the Northwest," but the duo says they're ready to tackle it.
Although Moses Kinikini was voted off the Biggest Loser Ranch earlier this week that hasn't stopped him from challenging himself to lose weight. That's why he's set his sights on finishing the race alongside his daughter Kaylee, who is still on the show.
"Going through the Biggest Loser experience has really helped me train for this,” said Moses Kinikini.
At his heaviest, Moses weighed 475 pounds. The pain in his legs made it difficult to get up and down, but today he weighs 270 pounds and says he has a new lease on life.
"Kind of sad that I look back at so many of the years that I've lived here in Idaho, whether it be in the Nampa/Boise area, or here in eastern Idaho, we have such a wonderful state and such great things to see in this state, and I chose for many years not to be part of it. So now, I'm going to take every opportunity I can to enjoy it,” he said.
Moses says he plans to walk the 13.1 mile course.
"I hope that every year I get to do Robie Creek," said Moses. "This is a wonderful race and maybe as I continue to do it every year, maybe I'll jog it. I wouldn't hold my breath, but to be able to walk it, that says a lot."
Come rain or shine on race day, Moses says he's just happy to participate.
"I'm going to enjoy however the situation is, I'm going to go up and enjoy every moment of it,” said Moses.
This isn't the first time Moses has participated in the Race to Robie. Moses said he walked the course 10 years ago when he weighed 350 pounds. He's excited to do it again this Saturday almost 200 pounds lighter.
