Rep. Perry joins congressional race

BOISE - Nampa Republican Rep. Christy Perry announced today that she is joining in on the crowded race for Idaho’s 1st Congressional District.

Joined by her husband Matt, Perry handed in her official paperwork to Idaho Secretary of State Lawerence Denney this morning.

Perry is currently serving her fourth term as a representative of Idaho’s legislative District 11.

She calls herself a prominent advocate of Second Amendment rights, a supporter of limited government, and someone looking to push for criminal justice reform and foster care reform.

Perry says she is excited to join the race and expects to hold an official event after Thanksgiving.

"This no, no, no attitude has gotten our country nowhere. Really what we want to do is take some of the lessons we have learned in the Idaho Legislature and show how Idaho does things, use a common-sense approach to government. We want to see that in the federal government,” said Perry.

Perry joins five others in the race to fill the seat currently held by Rep. Raul Labrador. Russ Fulcher, Nick Henderson, David Leroy, Luke Malek and Michael Snyder have announced bids for the same seat.
