Visser wins Ada commish seat, incumbents hold on at ACHD

BOISE - Republican Rick Visser beat Democrat TJ Thomson for an open Ada County commissioner seat, and two incumbents held on to their commissioner seats at the Ada County Highway District.

Visser, a former Boise State professor, won with 54 percent of the vote, claiming the seat vacated by Rick Yzaguirre. With all precincts reporting, he had about 14,000 votes more than Boise City Council member Thomson.

Meanwhile, incumbent ACHD commissioners Rebecca Arnold and Sara Baker will retain their seats. Arnold faced a challenge from former Boise City Council member David Eberle in sub-district 2. She won with 55 percent of the vote.

Baker held off two challengers - Boise author Rick Just and veteran political operative Mike Tracy - in sub-district 5. Baker had 46 percent of the vote, while Tracy got 36 percent and Just got 19 percent.
