Gloria Steinem campaigns for Clinton in Boise

BOISE - Gloria Steinem campaigned for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Boise on Monday afternoon.

The famed women's rights activist held a get out the vote event at Boise State, telling students how they can get involved in the election during the final weeks of the campaign.

"Talking about the issues and how very, very important this election is, more than other in my lifetime," Steinem told KTVB.

Steinem says the 2016 presidential election has revealed deep-seeded divisions in our country, but also sparked a conversation about difficult topics.

"I think that it has revealed a lot of truth about... the politics of racism and sexism and resentment," she said. "It's important to know, and it's gonna make for a more constructive conversation."

She added that she is confident that the students she spoke with understand the importance of voting in this election.

"The voting booth is the only place on Earth where the most powerful and the least powerful are equal," she said.
