BOISE -- U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood met with Boise Mayor Dave Bieter and discussed funding for the mayor's long-debated street car project.
Both men toured the Boise-based locomotive manufacturer MotivePower on Wednesday.
LaHood heard about Bieter's transportation vision for Boise, and the surrounding Treasure Valley. Upon conclusion of the tour and meeting, LaHood and said he would send a team to help Bieter achieve his plan in terms of technical and funding ideas.
"The idea of a street car system connecting the university community with the downtown community i think is a very very strong vision," Lahood said.
In a related note, Mayor Bieter also gave Lahood a bike helmet signed by two-time gold medal winner Kristin Armstrong.
