BOISE -- An Iranian appeals court has reaffirmed the eight-year prison sentence for Boise pastor Saeed Abedini.
Iranian authorities tried and sentenced Abedini in January on a charge of attempting to undermine state security.
The pastor had been doing humanitarian work and gathering with fellow Christians in Iran before he was jailed last year.
The American Center for Law and Justice, which is representing Abedini, is reporting that the Tehran Court of Appeals on Sunday refused to reduce his prison sentence.
The group calls it a "devastating blow."
However, the ACLJ and Abedini's wife, Nahghmeh, say they will continue to fight for Pastor Saeed's release.
