BOISE -- Idaho lawmakers called for cancellation of a $375,000 no-bid contract awarded by the state's insurance exchange to one of its own board members.
Sen. Jim Rice of Caldwell and Rep. Kelley Packer of McCammon, both of whom sit on the Your Health Idaho board, said on Monday that Frank Chan's contract was overpriced and inappropriate.
The board meets Tuesday at 11 a.m. to discuss its procurement process.
There, Rice and Packer say they'll also seek to discard the $180-hour deal with Chan.
Chan quit the board Wednesday after getting the contract.
Though Your Health Idaho director Amy Dowd contends it's within her authority to award contracts, the exchange is operating under only a "draft" procurement policy that doesn't specify when competitive bidding is required.
Dowd didn't immediately comment on Monday.
