GLENNS FERRY -- The toss of a coin has resolved a city council race in Glenns Ferry.
Larry Stevenson was elected to the city council Tuesday with 176 votes.
Candidates Joyce Ashton and Robert Janousek tied for the second council seat, with each receiving 130 votes during Tuesday's election.
A special city council meeting was held at Glenns Ferry City Hall at noon Thursday to decide the winner of the other seat.
City Clerk Debra Rowan said she used a shiny, new 2013 quarter for the coin toss. Ashton called "heads" during the coin flip, but the quarter landed "tails up." Janousek was declared the winner.
Rowan says the entire proceeding took just a matter of minutes.
