CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Liz Cheney has announced a core group of leaders and advisers for her U.S. Senate campaign that draws from all corners of Wyoming and doesn't include any current elected officials.
The elder daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney announced last week she'll try to unseat a fellow Republican, three-term Sen. Mike Enzi, next year.
Liz Cheney announced a state leadership team Thursday that includes Dick and Maggie Scarlett of Jackson, and Bill and Toni Thomson of Cheyenne. Both couples are old friends of the Cheney family and well-known in state Republican circles.
Liz Cheney's advisers include Harriet Hageman, a Cheyenne attorney known for taking up conservative causes.
Wyoming U.S. Sen. John Barrasso and Rep. Cynthia Lummis say they support Enzi. Gov. Matt Mead hasn't endorsed either candidate.
