SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — San Jose police say they have arrested three teens in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy and the stabbing of his 13-year-old friend while they were trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said Tuesday a 15-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys have been taken into custody. He did not release their names or provide further details.

Police have said the victims were accosted by gang members but did not belong to a gang themselves.

The boy who was shot remains hospitalized in grave condition. His 13-year-old friend has been released from a hospital.
