CLEVELAND (AP) — The miraculous rescue of three missing women in Cleveland has given hope to many families with missing children. But for some families who have been searching for years, hope can be a dangerous thing.
Thousands of children are missing across the country. The longer they are gone, the less chance they will be found alive.
What happened in Cleveland is extremely rare. Kelly Murphy of Project Jason calls it a miracle.
Murphy founded Project Jason after her son disappeared 12 years ago. She helps other families search for missing children, and she says many families have more hope since the Cleveland rescue.
But Jody Himebaugh, whose son Mark disappeared 23 years ago, is avoiding details of the Cleveland news. He says the story just rekindles painful memories of the past 23 years.
