JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say three girls and their mother may be in extreme danger after they were abducted in Tennessee.

They were last seen in Mississippi. The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert on Saturday morning, and Tennessee authorities also issued an alert. The girls are believed to be with their mother, 31-year-old Jo Ann Bain, and 35-year-old Adam Mayes.

The girls are 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain, 12-year-old Alexandria and 14-year-old Adrienne. Warrants are being issued for Mayes' arrest on kidnapping charges.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said the FBI is in charge of the case because it involves multiple states. FBI officials didn't immediately respond to a message.

Authorities said Mayes may have cut his hair, as well as cut and dyed the girls' hair to disguise them.
