Missing Middleton woman found safe

CANYON COUNTY -- An elderly woman reported missing on Friday has been located by authorities.

Patricia "Pat" Justice Headrick, 79, wandered away from her home in Middleton Friday morning. The Canyon County Sheryff's Office asked for the public's help in locating Justice Headrick, as she suffers from dementia.

Justice Headrick was found several miles from her home by an individual searching for her on his personal ATV.

She was released to her family after being evaluated by medical staff at West Valley Medical Center.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office issued a statement in regards to caring for loved ones suffering from demetia.

"Caring for a sufferer of dementia requires special attention and presents a unique set of challenges. The lack of basic abilities to make rational decisions can place a dementia sufferer in harm's way quickly. As with Patricia, fall weather creates cold, damp evenings and elderly patients can rapidly succumb to the ever changing climate."
