BOISE – A move from Pocatello to Boise has turned out to be a prosperous one for Heather Palacios.
Heather was driving along Interstate 84 last week when she stopped at the Traveler’s Oasis in Eden to get gas for her moving truck and some refreshments. She also purchased a couple of Idaho Lottery scratch tickets.
It was until she reached the Pilot Travel Center in Mountain Home that she checked the Cashword Combo tickets by scratching only the bar codes on them.
“The first one was a $15 winner. When the clerk scanned the second one, she told me I needed to take it to Boise to claim it,” said Palacios. “I didn’t know how much it was worth so I scratched it right there in the store in Mountain Home. It was a $100,000 winner!"
Heather was in the process of moving to Boise to complete her college degree and start a new job. Now her husband won’t have to commute between Pocatello and Boise until the family can get settled financially.
“This is a big relief, because now I can join the family in Boise, too,” said her husband Hector Palacios.
Lottery officials says this is the sixth $100,000 or higher winning sold in the Magic Valley in the past six months – more than any other region in Idaho. Those six winning tickets combined amount to $1.8 million.
For selling the winning ticket, the Traveler’s Oasis in Eden receives a $10,000 bonus from the Idaho Lottery.
