BOISE -- The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday's drawing has soared to $425 million, the third largest in the game's history.
Lottery officials say sales across the nation have been brisk and driven the jackpot from $400 million to $425 million. The one-time cash jackpot is $244.7 million.
"Any time the Powerball jackpot reaches high levels there is an increase in player participation in the game," said Idaho Lottery Director Jeff Anderson. "We want to remind everyone that when they do play, to please do so responsibly."
Players can buy Powerball tickets up until 7:55 p.m. MT when the draw closes.
There have been three $1,000,000 Powerball winners in the past month.
