Hundreds of people came out to enjoy a Labor Day picnic in Boise's Municipal Park.
BOISE -- Politics and picnics -- they seem to go together on Labor Day.
And today, they came together at Boise’s Municipal Park.
Picnickers were treated to hamburgers, hot dogs, live music, games, and of course political speeches by congressional candidates Walt Minnick and Larry LaRocco.
LaRocco said working people know the economy is shaky, and they want something done about it.
"We need to do some nation building right here at home, and they know that we need to build an infrastructure and an economy that's second to none, and that keeps the jobs here and builds a stronger America," said LaRocco.
LaRocco says Labor Day is an opportunity to thank labor unions, which have worked to benefit all working Idahoans, not just those who are union members.
The picnic was sponsored by the Boise Central Trades and Labor Council.
