Flames are seen inside the Guardian Angels daycare center Monday morning.
BOISE - A fire broke out at a Boise childcare center late Sunday night.
It happened at Guardian Angels Academy on McMillan Road near Shamrock Avenue Sunday night at about 11:30 p.m.
When fire crews arrived on scene the roof of the building was ready to collapse, so they didn't go in. Instead, crews stayed back and fought the flames with hoses.
The fire destroyed most of the roof and made the daycare uninhabitable.
Daycare officials are working to find out where the children will go.
The Treasure Valley YMCA is offering help to parents of Guardian Angel pupils.
The YMCA will offer parents the same rate they paid at Guardian Angel at any YMCA Child Development site for the rest of 2008. The Y will also waive its usual registraion fee.
“The YMCA was formed to serve the needs of our community and right now these families need quality child care. What better way to meet our mission of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities than by lending a hand to a business and families in need?” YMCA COO David Duro said.
Fire crews are investigating the cause of the incident.
