An Oregon man died outside this Oregon WinCo Foods, and his family says the store's security personnel are to blame.
BEAVERTON, Ore. - An Aloha, Oregon man is dead, and his family blames three employees at an Oregon WinCo Food store in his death.
Mason Stevenson, 38, died Sept 4th at the Beaverton/Cedar Hills WinCo store. His girlfriend says three employees handcuffed him and sat on him.
KOIN-TV says that a police report shows Stevenson was stopped on suspicion of shoplifting at the store. The store's loss prevention officers stopped the man outside the grocery store.
Stevenson's girlfriend Lora Pies told KGW-TV that he went to pick up school supplies for his son when the incident happened.
An autopsy was performed - but the results, including the cause of death, have not been released. Beaverton police would not comment on the incident to KGW. A spokesperson for Boise-based WinCo did not return phone calls.
Stevenson leaves behind a five-year-old son.
“He was a phenomenal father. He raised my two sons like they were his own,” she said.
