BURLEY -- Cassia County Sheriff's deputies say three men were hurt Thursday evening in a repair shop when a homemade bomb exploded.
The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. in a shop located at 300 West 18 north of Burley.
When deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene they found several people crying and hysterical.
Smoke could be seen coming from the shop and once inside deputies found the injured men.
Kent Tilley, 39, and Bill Stephen, 21, both of Burley, sustained serious injuries. They were initially taken to the Cassia Hospital, but later air lifted to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
A third person, Bryan Patterson, 32, of Burley, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released.
Investigators say all three men were inside the building when the explosion occurred.
Witnesses told police that Tilley was making a homemade bomb when it exploded. It appears that he had done this before and exploded the bombs in an old pit near his business. It is unknown why the bomb exploded.
Cassia County deputies found bomb making equipment in the building, but no other bombs were found.
