BOISE - Saturday’s chilly weather did not stop more than 50 students from walking through downtown Boise to raise awareness about Northern Uganda.
Students from Boise High and Bishop Kelly participated in the area's first annual Gulu Walk, an event that takes place across the globe.
Students say it is important to raise awareness for the rising number of abandoned children in Africa.
“It’s a student led walk that we are going to raise awareness for an issue that will continue to face us as a generation and as a society at whole,” Breanne Gratton with the Boise High Amnesty International.
“It’s not really about the money it’s just about the awareness,” Morgan Petersen, Boise High Humanity Club.
The walk began at Boise High and ended at the Anne Frank Memorial where a speaker talked about the issues in Uganda and what our nation can do to help.
